How did you get started in investing?

I got a steady job, and asked myself “what can I do to shorten the amount of time I am going to have work?”

Tell me about your biggest investment success, and what you learned from it?

I bought a house that not only I could live in, but rented out the basement, making good income to help offset the mortgage and bills. The lesson I learned is that a good location is important, and to look for good bones in a house. The look and feel of the inside doesn’t matter as long as you have good bones to work with, and a strong structure.

Tell me about your biggest investment failure, and what you learned from it?

I used a line of credit for a down payment and to fund renovations. Each month I was working to make payments to a line of credit, this is money I could have used towards paying down the mortgage faster.
What is your current investment endeavor?

Extra mortgage payments. Right now interest rates and my mortgage payments are low, so by paying down the principle I will be in a better situation in a few years when I need to renegotiate the mortgage, and interest rates could be higher which would increase my monthly payments.
